NEGOTIATED PURCHASES SUMMARIES BELOW
DTN COMMENTS: The country is quiet this afternoon with bids and asking
prices yet to be established, and significant trade volume will likely be
delayed until the second half of the week. New showlists appear to be mixed,
higher in Texas, and Nebraska/Colorado, but lower in Kansas.
Today's slaughter totaled 115,000 head, even with last week, but 4,000 less
than a year ago. Live cattle futures closed mixed, mostly sharply lower, off
122 to up 17, while feeder issues ended the day sharply lower off 250 to 350.
Beef cutouts are expected to close lower with light to moderate box movement.
