DTN COMMENTS:  Some light live business is being reported this afternoon.  
In Texas most deals are marked at $225, $7 higher than last week's 
weighted average. So far, in Kansas a few bids have been noted at $225. 
Some asking prices remain firm around $226 to $228 in the South, and 
$346-plus in the North. A light trade was reported in the North yesterday 
with dressed deals ranging from $340 to $345, $11 to $16 higher than the 
prior week's weighted averages. 

Today's slaughter totaled 115,000 head, 6,000 more than last week, but 
3,000 below a year ago. Saturday's kill is estimated at 10,000 head, 
bringing the weekly total to 600,000 head, 102,000 greater than last 
week's holiday slaughter, but 14,000 less than 2025. Live cattle futures 
closed mostly sharply higher, up 95 to 570, while feeder issues ended the 
day sharply higher up 192 to 362. Beef cutouts are expected to close 
lower with moderate to good box movement.
